WELCOME TO THE BLOG
A quick walk through Target or The Container Store will give you lots of tools and ideas for organizing your home and office. There are containers, labels, label makers, inventory systems, and more ready for purchase. Be sure you aren't adding clutter with the purchase but adding value instead. Here are some tools I love and recommend for systems and home organization.
Valet rods are super useful in a few areas! I like to have one near the laundry when space is limited. This way items can be hung on the rod as they come out of the dryer to minimize wrinkles. And when laundry is put away, the rod tucks neatly into its shell and doesn't clutter the small space. Another great place for a valet rod is in the primary closet. I have seen a few that have multiple valet rods so that each one holds all of the items for a particular outfit. So helpful for packing or planning the week. Learn more here.
Of course, the label maker makes the list! The link included is to the P Touch Cube Plus that we use literally every day! It's simple to use and the uniform labels reduce visual clutter and keep things tidy. If you have cleaning services, caregivers, or nannies in the home I say label away! Make it clear where things belong. Caution, however, don't overdo it for family members. Spouses and teens can resent an overly labeled space and it will have the opposite effect... You can learn more here.
Love an extra place designated for clothing that isn't clean or dirty. You know- the sweatshirt you wore once and could wear again...where should it land? Too clean for the dirty clothes hamper yet too dirty to hang in the closet. A designated home is so helpful. Just be sure to set a limit or a trigger so that the "pile" doesn't get out of control. For my husband and me every Sunday all items on the rack get washed, dried, and put away. Keeps items off the floor and makes for fewer loads of laundry. Discover more here.
These are just a few of the tools I use in my own home. We have implemented these and many others in clients' homes over the last six-plus years. If you need some help, just ask! We have probably seen the issue before and have a tool in mind to help!
