ENERGY MANAGEMENT

How to Become More Productive & Less Stressed

Have you ever thought much about energy management? Often this is referred to in business or in terms of conserving energy in the world—yes, turning off the lights when you leave a room will help with this. But we are talking about an entirely different energy management.

We are talking about where you spend your energy.  The traditional understanding of time management leads busy people into a wheel of trying to accomplish everything in the time they have.  But sometimes our time is best spent doing activities that make us feel alive and feed our energy tank as opposed to depleting it. Energy management is important so that you can devote your energy in more efficient ways throughout the day and towards tasks that are more important. And conservation of energy for your actual priorities in life is how we align our vision of life with our reality.

The Issue Isn’t Time, It’s Energy
Home organizing is about energy management

Energy and time typically go hand in hand, but what we tend to run out of first is energy. It is easy to see all the home projects and disorganization pile up. It is easy to beat yourself up over projects that you are capable of completing but never get to.

The issue isn’t finding the time to get to them, the issue is finding the energy.

Because, our energy is a finite resource just like our time. Especially in the busy lives most people lead between work, children, extracurricular activities, and just finding time to recharge.

Organizing and unpacking are tasks that require mental, emotional and physical energy.  The decision-making involved along with the actual physical labor of the task are the reason that many times people are frustrated with themselves because they had the time last weekend to get things in order but don’t understand why they didn’t.

Typically, this is because they didn’t have the mental, physical and emotional energy when the time was available on the schedule…and the hope would be that the time ended up being spent on energy GIVING activities.

  • Did you know taking 10-12 minutes to plan out your day can conserve 2 hours of your time and energy that would have otherwise been wasted?

  • Did you know working/living in a messy space means you spend up to 1.5 hours looking for misplaced items?

  • Did you know getting rid of clutter would eliminate 40% of an average household’s work?

There are so many statistics surrounding the idea of time management and productivity, but bottom line: if you don’t have the energy to make it happen, you’ll never find the time either.

Breaking the Wheel: Getting Organized to Maximize Your Energy

Disorganization leads to a cycle of mismanaged time, energy, and patience. When your home is disorganized, your life feels off-balance and your time goes into trying to keep up with the clutter when you simply have no time to actually get it all in order and organized. It is a vicious cycle that we have seen time and time again with clients. This is why we are here to help you take back that time and energy.

Recognizing the pattern will help break the wheel.

We are creatures of habit. It is easy to put something off until tomorrow and then do it again. Over time, these tomorrows simply pile up to never. Why does this happen? First of all, organizing can be mentally draining for some people. So instead of breaking the cycle of disorganization, they choose to use their energy to recharge and do other things. Tomorrow never comes this way, so recognizing the pattern is the first step to taking action.

Getting organized will help break the wheel.

The cycle will never end without taking a pause and making a plan to really dive into the problem. Organization throughout your spaces will provide a stable environment in which you can devote your energy to the things that matter: your family, your hobbies, your work, etc. Getting there may feel impossible, which is why our team is here to jump in and help when the struggle is real. We come in and create order and organization so you can spend less energy and stop wasting time on your cluttered home.
