Can Beauty and Function CoExist?
Think organization is just a one-off indulgence, or purely a woman's concern? Time to bust those myths! Guess what? A good 20% of our clientele are men who value order in their homes just as much as women. Welcome to the world where organization is for everyone!
Tip #1: Curate Solutions that are Colorful & Sophisticated
We try to use 3 colors and/or textures in a space and be sure that each one is repeated 3 times or more. This brings a cohesive look to the space. I would say this pertains to textures and materials more than actual colors as they tend to be neutral more often than not.
Tip #2: Layer in Textures that are Luxe & Timeless
Many clients prefer no plastic in their organizing products- especially for the pantry. In this case we prefer to use wicker and/or metal baskets to give some style and visual interest to the space.
Tip #3: Repurpose Items that are Personal & Unique
Have some pieces from your grandma or a dear friend that you arent sure what to do with? We can often find ways to incorporate these pieces into your overall plan so that they move from being clutter to being a point of interest and individuality in your home.
Tip #4: Easily Disguise Things that are Daily Essentials
One way we like to "hide" items is in plain sight- on a tray! When a tray is added to the countertop (careful- just one) it provides a boundary for the items to be stored in the space and pulls them together to look intentional. This is a great way to ensure the items you need in zone one at your fingertips are part of the plan and don't take over the space.
Function will beat beauty in any home organizing plan but it doesn't mean that the space can't be beautiful!
